1804

The history of Le Vieux Temple begins in the early 19th century.
In the village of Mas-Grenier, the soil is fertile and one of the country's largest rivers flows through it: La Garonne. A high-quality agricultural environment in which large cereal and fruit farms developed.
In the heart of the village, the current building was built in two parts: on the east side, the farmhouse was used to dry and store cereals and tobacco leaves, and on the west side, the Protestant temple was home to men and women seeking spiritual realisation.
The two parts were adjoining and did not communicate; each had its own entrance.
Time and history have passed, leaving this place in a state of ruin.

Jean-Pierre Breton, born in Mas-Grenier in 1930, was passionate about the beauty of the ancient and the rustic renovation of authentic sites. He embarked on a project to renovate this building, which consisted of a farmhouse and an old ruined temple. Courageously accompanied by his son Médéric Breton and his cousin Eric Estanove, the project began in 1992 and lasted over 30 years.

Still a lot of work to do, but the lawn is green.

We are in 2022, Jean-Pierre has been dead for a year and the project is almost complete.
Quentin Breton, Jean-Pierre's grandson, had been travelling in Latin America for three years before returning to France and meeting up with his father Médéric at Le Vieux Temple. Inspired by his discoveries and years of practising yoga and meditation, they decided to open the doors and founded the association: Le Vieux Temple Yoga.
A place built by the union of patience and perseverance, whose virtues, impregnated in the walls, nourish the meditation of those who meditate there.
